Catholic Charities of Chemung County Appoints Leslie Shelhamer, STEPS Administrator,

Catholic Charities of Chemung County is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Leslie Shelhamer, HMIS STEPS Administrator. Ms. Shelhamer will be responsible for the implementation and use of a database systems know as a Homeless Information Management System (HMIS). All agencies and programs funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are required to implement and use this type of system. Our local system, recently named the Southern Tier Entry to Program Services (STEPS), will allow agencies to coordinate service provision, manage program operations and better serve persons and families who are homeless or are at risk of being homeless. One unique feature about this type of database is it can provide unduplicated, aggregate statistics on the community's homeless population. Ms. Shelhamer's routine function will include: assuring confidentiality and security compliance, addressing data quality issues, provide software training, data analysis and serving as a liaison between Catholic Charities of Chemung County, the local and regional Continuums of Care and HUD.
